More about our Rosé NV

Made in only very limited volumes, our non-vintage Rosé is a vivid, vibrant sparkling wine – one that often sells out. A soft, pale pink, this bottling (based on the 2020 vintage) combines a gentle creamy character with just-picked strawberries, sun-ripened plums and cherry blossom notes. Aromatic but driven and long, with our trademark minerality and mouthwatering acidity, it’s a beautiful, food-friendly wine. Only 1,860 bottles were produced.

How our Rosé NV is made

Grapes from our five-hectare vineyard were hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and vinified in a combination of stainless steel and old oak. The wines all go through malolactic fermentation, tempering the naturally taut style. The 2020 base wines were blended with around 10% reserve wines (from a solera we have collected over the years), lending additional complexity and richness. Once blended and bottled, the wine spent a minimum 42 months on the lees, developing biscuity, autolytic notes. Disgorged in November 2025, the wine received a dosage of 9g/L

More about the 2020 vintage

The 2020 vintage – forever remembered for the pandemic – proved challenging in many ways but made some spectacular wines. The season started with beautiful weather in March and April, but frost threatened the crop in late April and mid-May, by around 40%. Warm weather in August and September, however, allowed the fruit to ripen perfectly. The grapes at Candover Brook were picked during the 1st fortnight of October (always 3-4 days only and not too far apart). In 2020 we started on the 7th of October, which is fairly standard, before October’s heavy rain.

Press and awards

Silver at 2026 Wine GB Awards

“Salmon-pink. Savoury-fruited, combining plum, raspberry and citrus with toasted nut notes and a whisper of forest floor.  Structured yet elegant, it carries its richer style into a long finish. Drink 2026-2032.”

91 points, Decanter – Panel Tasting, May 2026

“Strawberry, spice and brioche aromas; red apple, raspberry, ripe orange and plum on the palate, with toasted almond notes.”

90 points – Silver Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards 2026

“The NV Brut Rose, a blend of 54% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Meunier and 13% Pinot Noir from Hampshire's Candover Valley, features 85% of its base from the 2018 vintage, with the remainder from a "solera" dating back to 2011.  After three years on lees, it presents a subtle nose with glimpses of lemon, smooth creamy yeast and a hint of chalk.  The palate offers immense freshness, reminiscent of lemony strawberry sorbet, with foamy bubbles and verve framed by yeasty creaminess.  A 9 g/L dosage enhances the tart red berry fruit, channelling superb freshness into lasting bright fruit.  Disgorged: August 2022.”

91 points, Vinous – Anne Krebiehl MW, February 2025

“Aromatic intense floral nose, fresh acidity, and pleasing macerated red fruit, peach, herbal notes on a backbone of sourdough and hints bruised fruit.”

90 points – Silver Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards 2025

“I first wrote this wine up in March 2022 in Vineyard Magazine, having earmarked it as a future rosé superstar. Over the last few years, it has further refined its message. With lovely ripe fruit and a smooth, pure palate with hints of redcurrants and cranberries, this is a silky wine from a textural perspective, cut with tangy red fruit
notes. It is precisely what you are after when you think English Sparkling Rosé.”

Matthew Jukes – matthewjukes.com, June 2025

“Rhubarb and red apple on the nose lead to a creamy and sophisticated palate with a shortbread backdrop and elegance.”

91 points – Silver Medal, International Wine Challenge 2024

"This is one of the most stunning English rosés I have tasted and the super-smooth, incredibly pure fruit is mesmerising. I urge you to track down a bottle and raise as glass to this brave new label, as soon as you can!"

Matthew Jukes – Vineyard Magazine, March 2022

Candover Brook is named after the chalk stream that runs through our valley. Chalk streams are one of the rarest habitats on earth – and the Candover Brook is one of the few remaining homes of the rare English white-clawed crayfish. We donate 50p for every bottle sold in Hampshire to a preservation project managed by HIWWT.
